Early April

Local restaurant food tasting. … The Taste of Summit is an annual benefit for the Summit Historical Society. Sample some of the best entrees from over a dozen area restaurants and caterers. For details, call the Historical Society at 908-277-1747

Early May

5 mile run. … The Our House run takes you through the scenic hills of Summit and goes right past the front door of the DeBary Inn. This is one of NJ’s finest races. Over 600 racers compete. $3,000 in prize money is given.

Late April

 

Art show … The Summit Outdoor Art Show is an open air sidewalk art show and sale.

Summer

Outdoor concerts … The Concert on the Green series provides free band music on the Green across from the train station. Generally, the concert is on Tuesday evenings.

June to Oct.

Farmers’ market … This open air market is held on Sundays from 8:30 AM until 1:30 PM in a downtown parking lot. Buy some heirloom tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, or flowers.

July 4

Fireworks … It’s the biggest in the area. 1.5 miles away from DeBary.

Late Sept.

Car show … The Classic Car Show is outdoors in downtown Summit. It’s free.

Early Oct.

 

Kitchen tour by Overlook Hospital Auxiliary. Get some great ideas for your own kitchen by going on this fund raiser.

Mid-Oct.

5K Run … This is the 2nd annual 5K run (and a 2 mile walk) sponsored by the Summit YMCA. The run begins at 1 p.m. on the Village Green (across from the train station in downtown Summit). A two mile walk starts at 1:15 p.m. The race course winds through Summit neighborhoods. You’ll need to register for the race and pay a fee. See the YMCA site for details.

Nov. 1 to 20

Fall leaves … The peak in color is around November 10th.

Early Dec.

House tour by Reeves-Reed Arboretum. See some of the grand houses in the area and help benefit the arboretum. Call Reeves-Reed at 908-273-8787 for details.
