How to get to area institutions

These maps show some of the major institutions in the area that are easy to get to from the Inn, usually without a car.

Basic directions follow. We have more detailed directions available.

1. Schering-Plough (Summit) Bus Take the # 70 bus on Broad Street near the train station. The ride to Schering-Plough takes 5 minutes. Get off across the street from the main entrance to Schering-Plough. Two striped crossing paths let you cross the street safely to Schering-Plough. Take the # 70 bus to return and get off at the train station.
2. Overlook Hospital
(Summit)
Local car service to hospital. Can walk back. .7 miles from Inn. The hospital is on a steep hill so walking to the hospital takes some work. Note: Once you’re there you don’t have to go anywhere to get lunch. The hospital has a surprisingly good cafeteria for employees and visitors.
3. Celgene
(Summit)
Free shuttle service It's easy! A shuttle van (employees only) takes you the 1 mile between the Summit train station and Celgene. So to get to Celgene from the Inn walk 5 minutes to the train station (sidewalks the whole way). Pick up the shuttle on the back side of the train station (the side facing Broad Street, not the side facing downtown Summit). The shuttle van has a sign saying Celgene.The shuttle continuously runs in the morning from 6:30 to 9:30. To return, the shuttle operates between 3:45 to 6:45 PM. The facilities manager at Celgene here in Summit oversees the shuttle if you want more details.
4. Dun & Bradstreet Corp.
(Short Hills)
Local car service or drive 3 miles from Inn, just past the Short Hills Mall.
5. Bed Bath & Beyond (Union) Drive 4 miles from the Inn. No highway driving needed.
6. LexisNexis Martindale-Hubbell (New Providence) Train Take the train from Summit to Murray Hill (2 stops, takes 11 minutes). Then walk two blocks to LexisNexis. … 4.1 miles from the Inn.
7. Alcatel-Lucent/ Bell Labs
(Murray Hill)
Bus (or train) Take the #986 bus next to the train station area (see above map). This bus will take you to the front door of Alcatel-Lucent/Bell Labs. It takes 19 minutes. 3.6 miles away

Or, you can take the train to the Murray Hill station and walk .9 miles.

9. Drew University
(Madison)
Train Take the train from Summit to Madison (2 stops, takes 11 minutes). Walk to Drew in 3-4 blocks.
10. NY Jets
(Madison)
Car Future home of NY Jets. About 5 ½ miles from the Inn.
11. Farleigh Dickinson
(Madison)
Car About a 5 mile, 15 minute drive. We have a map that shows you how to cut through a back road to avoid Route 24 traffic.
12. College of St. Elizabeth (Madison) Train Take the train from Summit to Convent Station. This station is right at the gate to the college (3 stops, takes 15 minutes). Or the college is about a 5.2 mile, 16 minute drive. We have a map that shows you how to cut through a back road to avoid Route 24 traffic.
13. Honeywell
(Morris Township)
Car About a 6 mile, 20 minute drive. We have a map that shows you how to cut through a back road to avoid Route 24 traffic.
14. Connell Corporate Park
(Berkeley Heights)
Bus Take the #986 bus next to the train station (see above map). It takes 27 minutes.
15. Seton Hall University
(South Orange)
Train Take the train from Summit to South Orange (3rd stop, takes 12 minutes). Seton Hall is about a .6 mile walk from the train. … Or, a 13.2 mile drive from the Inn.
16. Verizon Wireless
(Basking Ridge, headquarters)
Private express bus Private, company supplied, bus service goes directly from Summit train station to Verizon Wireless. The bus leaves some 3 times in the morning from Summit and returns to Summit some 5 times around the end of the work day. Takes about 25/30 minutes.
17. Citicorp
(Warren)
Private express bus Citicorp has a private bus pick up and return people from Summit’s train station. Takes about 20 minutes.
