Avenue is at the first traffic light of the long exit ramp (from either
direction). Summit Avenue is marked with a sign.
• At the 2nd stop light on Summit Avenue (1.1 miles from Exit
8) turn left on to Springfield Avenue.

Train
Summit is ideal for getting to/from NYC by train as well as the general
area. With two train branches crossing in Summit, Summit gives you the
most frequent service in the area.
The trains can take you to these areas in Manhattan (NYC):
• Midtown. Just 35 minutes away, the MIDTOWN DIRECT train
service goes directly between Summit and New York City’s Penn
Station (33rd & 7th Ave.).
• Downtown. Under an hour away. The train from Summit
will take you to Hoboken, NJ. From there you can choose between two
connections for getting into Manhattan:
1) A train service (called the PATH) takes you to either downtown Manhattan
as well as 5 other stops from downtown Manhattan up to 33rd Street.
2) The ferry from Hoboken takes you to downtown Manhattan (Wall Street
& World Financial Center area).
And these non-NYC points are easily reached by train from Summit:
• Newark Prudential Center. Take a train the whole way! Train from Summit to Newark Broad St. takes about 30 minutes (costs $6.25). From Broad St. take the light rail to the front door (costs just $1.35). See njtransit.com for details.
• Towns east/west from Summit. Some 40 other towns can
be directly reached from Summit’s train station.
Bus
Two bus lines conveniently stop at covered main bus stops in Summit
on Broad street across from the train station (see above map). Here’s
how to get around on the buses:
• To midtown Manhattan: Take the Lakeland bus. It’s
a scheduled 42 minute ride (closer to an hour with commuter traffic)
from Summit to Port Authority (42nd & 8th Ave.) in Manhattan. …
Helpful hint: For returning first buy your ticket at the ticket gates
on the 1st floor of Port Authority before going to gate #401 (4th floor)
at Port Authority to catch the bus.
• To local areas: The NJ Transit buses can get you to
most places in the area. You can get off the bus pretty much anywhere
along its route by signaling the driver. The bus will then stop at the
next bus stop (every 3 blocks or so where there’s a bus stop sign).
Call 800-772-2222 for fees & schedules.
